NOW HIRING – DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
-Under the supervision of the Executive Director, have general responsibility for the agency’s daily operations.
-As the primary steward of the agency’s finances, provide timely and accurate financial information and analysis to the Executive Director and bookkeeping contractor; ensure fiscal responsibility in operations through best practices in management accounting; and support the achievement of agency mission. Function as financial liaison with the Board Treasurer.
-Responsible for Communicating Human Resources Policies, as well as processing payroll.
-Responsible for onboarding employees and monitoring and facilitating compliance requirements and reporting for all employee groups and the organization.
-Directly supervise the Office Assistant. Assist them in identifying and setting professional and departmental goals. Funnel concerns and issues to the Executive Director as appropriate.
-Act on behalf of the Executive Director in her absence when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum high school diploma with credits or experience in accounting or business management (degree preferred)
Experience: Broad and proficient experience of bookkeeping/accounting utilizing accounting software – QuickBooks preferred. Experience with not-for-profit or human / social services field ideal. Supervisory or human resources experience a plus
Personal: Organized; meticulous detail; demonstrated commitment and follow through; regular and predictable attendance
REPORTING & ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Responsibility: Reports directly to the Executive Director
Program organization: Meet regularly with Office Assistant for program progress assessments to ensure service delivery.
Staff coordination: Disseminate human resources information and payroll details to all staff. Manage compliance activities.
Starting pay rate $25-$30 per hour depending on experience.

Drivers – HCSS always accepts driver applications. As of September 2024, we are fully staffed for drivers, but that can change quickly. These are part-time positions. A clean driving record and operator’s license with a for hire endorsement is required (contact us for more information).
Adherence to strict safety and documentation protocols is a must. Physical ability to push wheelchairs up and into the vehicles is also required. Drivers should also be able to get into position to secure wheelchairs on the floor of the vehicle. Driver’s must participate in a random drug testing program. Annual training is provided.
Housekeepers – HCSS always accepts applications for housekeepers. As of September 2024 we are fully staffed, but that can change quickly. This position assists clients with routine household chores and light housekeeping. Most clients need basic housekeeping help, however we other possibilities include laundry, light cooking and errands. The schedule for this position is flexible and part-time.
Handyman – The handyman assists clients with small home repair and improvement. Minor home projects might include changing light bulbs, installing grab bars or changing out washers in a leaky faucet. We also help clients by installing smoke alarms and changing out batteries. The schedule for this position is flexible and part-time and is scheduled per project.

UPCOMING EVENTS AND NEWS
LEGAL ASSISTANCE – By appointment only. First Wednesday of each month. An attorney or paralegal from Senior Law Project Outreach at Indiana Legal Services visits the Hancock County Senior Services office on the first Wednesday of each month to do new client intake interviews. Services are limited to seniors age 60+ who are unable to retain a private attorney. Please bring any paperwork that may be relevant to your legal issue. We are observing strict COVID19 protocols for these sessions.
SENIOR HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM/MEDICARE COUNSELING (SHIP) – A specially trained HCCS staff member provides SHIP counseling (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) information about Medicare, Medicare Savings Plans, and insurance options.Call 317-462-3758 for an appointment.
SENIOR SOCIAL – HCSS is partnering with Healthy 365 to host senior socials each Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Hancock Health Wellness Center in McCordsville. HCSS hosts the social every 1st and 4th Thursday. Each session is different. There may be demonstrations or interesting presenters or fun and games. Every session includes fellowship with fellow seniors.
SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERY CHANGES
Need help changing the batteries in your smoke detectors? The Handyman for Hancock County Senior Services is available to change batteries in smoke detectors for seniors by request. There is no cost for this service, however donations are appreciated. Please call 317-462-3758 for more information.
