Drivers —  We are presently in need of more drivers to join our team. These are part-time positions. A clean driving record and operator’s license with a for hire endorsement is required.

Adherence to strict safety and documentation protocols is a must. Physical ability to push wheelchairs up and into the vehicles is also required. Yearly training provided.

Homemaker – We are looking for 1 dedicated and compassionate homemaker.  We are also looking for someone to give 3 hours a week to clean our office. These are part-time paid positions. If you enjoy being around seniors, have empathy and a strong work ethic, this might be the perfect position for you. NEW FOR 2020!  TAX PREPARATION SERVICE: Hancock County Senior Services will be offering FREE tax prep services for the residents of Hancock County. We cannot serve farmers or fishermen. Times offered are Mondays and Fridays between February 3rd and April 10th from 8:30 until 2:00. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED and are scheduled for 1 hour. You must bring your photo ID and Social Security Cards for you and your dependents. LEGAL SERVICES – An Indiana Senior Law Project Representative visits our office once a month to assist seniors with legal questions and documents.  Donations  appreciated. Wednesday, March 4 will be the next available day.

SENIOR HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM/MEDICARE COUNSELING (SHIP) –  A specially trained HCCS staff member provides SHIP counseling (State Health Insurance Assistance Program)  information about Medicare, Medicare Savings Plans, and insurance  options. Call 317-462-3758 for an appointment.  Appointments are generally scheduled on Wednesdays.  However, in special circumstances, an alternative day may be available.

THRIVE AFTER 55 – A woman’s Health and Wellness Information and Support group.  Meets the first Thursday of the month from 10:30 – Noon at Hancock County Senior Services.   The next meeting is Thursday, March 5.

LADIES DAY OUT –  Ladies Day Out extends an invitation to women of all ages to join them on the second Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is Tuesday, March 10 at location TBA. Ladies Day Out has no dues, no business meetings, no age restrictions, – just food, friendship and fun.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP – For those who have or are affected by Parkinson’s Disease. This is a self-help group run by and for people who live with the challenge of this chronic condition. It is a place to be yourself, to receive and share information, to offer mutual support and to add a circle of friends. The group will meet in a lower level classroom at the hospital on the second Monday of each month from 2:30-4:00 pm. SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERY CHANGES
Need help changing the batteries in your smoke detectors? The Handyman for Hancock County Senior Services is available to change batteries in smoke detectors for seniors by request.  There is no cost for this service, however donations are appreciated.  Please call 317-462-3758 for more information.
