SENIOR CITIZENS MOBILE FOOD PANTRY – The Mobile Pantry will be at Hancock County Fairgrounds from 1-3 on the first Tues. of the month. September 3 is the next available day. ID is required and participants must be 55+ and a resident of Hancock County. Please bring a wagon, cart, or bags/boxes to carry your food!
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY – The Mobile Pantry will be at Hancock County Fairgrounds from 3-5 on the second Monday of the month. September 9 is the next available day. The Mobile Pantry is open for ANYONE 18 years or older to receive food. No proof of residency or income is required. Please bring a wagon, cart or bags/boxes to carry your food.
FORTVILLE MOBILE PANTRY – 600 West Vitality Drive, Fortville. 18 years of age or older, no proof of residency required. 10 am to Noon August 24 and September 21.
LEGAL SERVICES – An Indiana Senior Law Project Representative visits our office once a month to assist seniors with legal questions and documents. Donations appreciated. September 4 will be the next available day.
SENIOR HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM/MEDICARE COUNSELING (SHIP) – A specially trained HCCS staff member provides SHIP counseling (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) information about Medicare, Medicare Savings Plans, and insurance options. Call 317-462-3757 for an appointment. Appointments are generally scheduled on Wednesdays. However, in special circumstances, an alternative day may be available.
THRIVE AFTER 55 – A woman’s Health and Wellness Information and Support group. Meets the first Thursday of the month from 10:30 – Noon at Hancock County Senior Services. The next meeting is Thursday, September 5.
LADIES DAY OUT – Ladies Day Out extends an invitation to women of all ages to join them at TBA on the 2nd Tues. of the month. September 10 beginning at 1:00 pm. Ladies Day Out has no dues, no business meetings, no age restrictions, – just food, friendship and fun.
PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP – For those who have or are affected by Parkinson’s Disease. This is a self-help group run by and for people who live with the challenge of this chronic condition. It is a place to be yourself, to receive and share information, to offer mutual support and to add a circle of friends. The group will meet in a lower level classroom at the hospital on the second Monday of each month from 2:30-4:00 pm. The next meeting of this group will be September 9. SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERY CHANGES
Need help changing the batteries in your smoke detectors? The Handyman for Hancock County Senior Services is available to change batteries in smoke detectors for seniors by request. There is no cost for this service, however donations are appreciated. Please call 317-462-3758 for more information.
